The wildsau dirtrun – Salzburg 2017

The weather cold and wet. The conditions are adverse. The challenge is a real challenge. But none of that could stop the Phantom Athletics team from another series of the Wildsau Dirtrun in a cement plant near Salzburg.
Already in the morning it became clear that the weather gods would not be kind to us. A drop in temperature and squally continuous rain made the day more suitable for Netflix & Chill than Dirtrun & Hustle. But not for us. Following the motto: If it gets tough, be tougher, we climbed onto the starting blocks with groundbreaking enthusiasm and “rocket mode” motivation. As soon as the starting signal was fired, the wild beast stormed forward calmly and eagerly from its cage.

12°C, rain and lots of mud…

After just a few meters we went up to our hair's breadth into the water basin and diving was a frequently required discipline as the race progressed. A number of army trucks were then allowed to “crawl under”. Here too it was a case of “get down in the dirt”. There was definitely no shortage of mud that day. Due to the constant rain, everything the organizers put in our way in terms of obstacles for this “dirt run” became a bit “muddier”. Be it the downhill slide into a mud pit, through streams and dirt up a never-ending slope, down the gravel mountains (and then up again of course). But all of that and more couldn't stop us.

Team Phantom Athletics wins...

Covered head to toe in mud, we rocked the race and, in the finest Phantom Athletics style, left the competition behind us. Our girls around Tina Schiffer, Sabrina Herzog and Sophie Pillem secured the first three places on the women's podium. And Michael Planitzer, who was only a vague figure in the distance after the starting signal and quickly became unrecognizable, also won the race with a breathtaking time of 1:35:03, far out of the competition. Our athlete Florian Marchl only missed third place by just 29 seconds because he pulled another participant who was no longer able to free himself from the mud pit. So much self-sacrifice should actually be rewarded.

Nevertheless, even though the elements were against us, it didn't dampen our good mood that day, but on the contrary, it only boosted it even further. We also maintained our place as the best team in this part of the Wildsau Dirtrun series. All in all a complete success. With this in mind, we are already looking forward to the last Wildsau Dirtrun race of this year in which we want to defend our title once again.
