Even though the new covering law has been in force in Austria since October 1, 2017, you can still use the Phantom training mask anywhere undisturbed. Even with your outdoor training sessions or the nightly training runs through the neighborhood, you don't have to expect any legal consequences.
The aim of the "Federal Law on the Prohibition of Covering the Face in Public (Anti-Face Covering Act/ AGesVG) is to promote integration by strengthening participation in human coexistence.
For this purpose, it punishes covering one's own facial features with clothing or other objects so that they are no longer recognizable in public places and buildings as an administrative offense with fines of up to $208.90.
However, there is no violation if the cover is either e.g. B. in the context of artistic, traditional events etc., the practice of sports, as well as for professional or health reasons.
Wearing or training with the Phantom training mask falls under this exception as a sporting activity and is exempt from the ban.
So nothing stands in the way of your evening run through the neighborhood or a high-intensity outdoor training session with the Phantom training mask.
